Murals are a sign of inclusion and build community. Although gangs, drugs, and crime sometimes rampage neighborhoods, culture and art, such as murals, help reinvigorate places where people used to avoid.  This was the impetus for founding The Mural Project. Our goal is to engage the neighborhoods’ stakeholders with art education.

As a former graffiti artist, most of Carlos’s work was illegal and usually done after hours when no one was watching. Concrete + Canvas created a space where teens can paint murals that skilled local and internationally renowned artists designed.

We paint stories of restoration, redemption, and reconciliation that depict how the neighborhood has been transformed. We strive to become the economic engine that empowers creatives to transform communities globally.
